Appetite for Construction | Matt Irwin

From Tuesday the Printspace on Kingsland Road will host Appetite for Construction, an exhibition of photography and film by Matt Irwin. Hailing from rural Devon, the London-based camera renegade spent his formative years dreaming he "was the love child of Courtney Love and Billy Corgan, taking acid, dying my hair red, and climbing onto the roofs of buildings and blowing the drainpipes off by dropping French bangers down them." After his torrid affair with miniature explosives, came Matt's insatiable desire to take pictures. Moving to London after losing close friends to serious drug addictions, Matt found his work catching the eye of Dazed & Confused's Fashion Director, Nicola Formichetti, who went on to become a mentor of sorts to Matt. Since then, Matt has gone on to shoot for Self Service, Russian Vogue, L'Uomo Vogue, V Magazine, and is shooting the next Uniqlo T-shirt campaign.Appetite For Construction runs from 12th February to 26th February at the Print Space, 74 Kingsland Road, London E2 8DL, open 10am to 6pm.Matt Irwin RIP
