SPL presents...

Claude Von Stroke,Julio Bashmore.

Thursday10 Mar 201110pm - 4amHoxton BasementPhotosOn Thursday 10th March SPL presents the illustrious Claude Von Stroke, providing a rather special opportunity for friends, family and old fans to witness his endless talents in a rare, intimate setting. Creator of the Dirty Bird and Mothership labels Claude Von Stroke submits an enigmatic combination of house, funk, dirty bass and electronica which has led to him being one of the most recognised label owners to come out of the US, as well as one of the nicest.Claude is well known for his unconventional style and unusual sound sources, which has been responsible for starting a genre of dance music very much influenced by hip-hop, funk, dub reggae, and Detroit techno. He has been causing waves since the success of 'Deep Throat' put Dirtybird, his fledgling San Francisco imprint, on the decks of DJs around the world. A manifesto of sorts, it was the rare dancefloor bomb that sounded as fun to make as it was to dance to. Besides the fact that he is constantly on tour playing in clubs all over the world, and successfully running two record labels, last year he released his second album Bird Brain, recorded a mix for Fabric and is giving Percolator a re-rub for 2010.  Claude Von Stroke is now on the cusp of a new sonic move, expanding his musical world outside of underground dance. He is busy in the studio making beats, writing songs and thinking of mad collaborations to make people shake their asses.Over the last year Bristol producer Julio Bashmore’s output has been bouncing off at multiple angles, roping new styles and sounds onto house foundations with an always playful, deft touch. Julio has broken out in a big way, releasing his own brand of killer bass-driven house music on a plethora of labels, not least of all the legendary DirtyBird.  His diverse approach embracing funky strut, old school piano, rich, elastic, 2-step, and thick synth and bass sounds have made his DJ sets something to talk about andare all testament to this youngster rising talents.SPL will provide a rare chance to see both of these high caliber artists in a small, raw urban setting for people who appreciate the finer details and who aren't afraid to get low.
