Nero | Benjamin Murphy & Millo
Hoxton Gallery is pleased to announce the return of Millo and Benjamin Murphy, this time, sharing the gallery with their new collaborative works. After meeting at each other’s solo shows at Hoxton Gallery, they met again in Luxembourg where they painted their first collaboration. They decided to combine their styles and create new paintings, introducing their new series for the first time at the place where they first met.Nero, being the Italian word for black, is the only color they use. The work is produced as it comes, letting their inspiration arise naturally on found materials; from canvas to pieces of wood and an occasional wall; there are no limitations to their medium and to their imagination. Voyeurism is a recurrent theme in their collaborations, a secret glance at each other works.Sono nero also defines the state of mind, on their common motive, between dark atmosphere, humor and interior feelings. Their collaborative works appear as a voyage to an imaginary dimension, exploring urban life in a satiric way.
